Ronald Horwege Award for Outstanding Service

This award honors outstanding performance and dedication to the profession. This may include:

  • Program founding and/or building
  • Advocacy on behalf of the mission of VA-AATG
  • Service to the profession on both the local and state levels
  • Successful fundraising
  • Support for professional development
  • Establishing or enhancing special programs committed to the teaching and learning of German

Interested teachers may apply for this award by letter.  Please describe the work done to demonstrate outstanding performance and dedication to the profession.  Please include a letter of support from a colleague or supervisor. Email both letters to Viktoria Van Eck, Chair, Awards Committee at the email address viktoriavaneck [at] gmail.com by September 15th with the email title “Horwege Award.”  This award comes with a $100 stipend.

Klett Award for the Outstanding Virginia Novice Teacher of German

This award honors excellence in teaching by novice teachers (1-3 years of teaching experience) of German in Virginia.

Interested teachers may apply for this award by letter.  Please describe the work done which demonstrates excellence in the teaching of German.  Please include a letter of support from a colleague or supervisor. Email both letters to Viktoria Van Eck, Chair, Awards Committee at the email address viktoriavaneck[at]gmail.com by September 15th with the email title “Klett Award.”  This award comes with a $75 stipend.
